The subject of today’s blog post may be controversial in some ways compared to some of the blog post subjects I choose but St Andrew’s ‘School was equally a part of Shandon thus my decision to include it.

Groundsman wanted to assist in this estate of 36 acres with 1 1/2 acres of vegetable garden with some glass. Wages: £13 19s 10d for 40 hour week.

Suited candidate mat be offered Residential Duty Allowance of £346 10s 0d per annum for 13 hours extra work. Single accommodation available.

Housemother required to be responsible for the physical comfort of some twenty-five boys and for casework associated with them.

Salary: £540/£730 per annum (under review) plus 10s 6d per hour over 40 hours, less £195 per annum for full board and lodging, laundry, etc.

Five weeks’ holiday per annum.

Single accommodation in pleasant surroundings.
